Softball sweeps Central Missouri at home

Anna Newcomer threw a two-hit shutout to lead Rockhurst to a 5-0 victory over Central Missouri in the first game on a doubleheader Tuesday at Loyola Park. The Hawks completed the sweep with a 10-2 win the second game to move their overall record to 17-19.

Game One: RU 5, Central Missouri 0

The Hawks scored four runs in the third inning to jump out to a 5-0 lead.  
Game Two: RU 10, Central Missouri 2 (5 inn.)

Jayla Pierce drove in five runs, highlighted by a grand slam to center field in the second inning, to lead the seven-hit attack.
  • Morgan Schmidt singled twice in three plate appearances.
  • Maya Gallager drove in two runs with a double to left in the third.
  • BreAnna Droge (5-4) allowed one run on three hits over 3.0 innings.
