Stellar pitching and hot hitting carried the Rockhurst softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Missouri S&T, 4-1 and 7-1, Saturday at the Avila University Zarda Complex in Kansas City, Missouri.
Game One: RU 4, Missouri S&T 1
After a leadoff home run from the Miners in the first, the Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the second on a two-run double by Avery Huffman. The Hawks added solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Game 2: RU 7, Missouri S&T 1
The Hawks used the long ball to get the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Gwen Bostick hit a two-run homer, then got another two-run homer in the third from Avery Huffman to take a 4-1 lead. Huffman would drive in another run in the fifth as part of a three-run inning that included a two-run double by Riley McGovern.

Huffman collected a season-high four hits, two runs and three RBIs.

Riley McGovern and Gwen Bostick each drove in two runs.

Huffman allowed one run with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
