Scoring in the early innings carried the Rockhurst softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Southwest Baptist, 7-4 and 10-1, Monday in Bolivar, Missouri.  

Game One: RU 7, Southwest Baptist 4  

The Hawks scored six runs in the third to take a 6-1 lead. Jayla Pierce doubled home Calli Wibbenmeyer for the final run in the seventh.   

• Gwen Bostick led the Hawks with two hits and an RBI single in the third.

• Allison Skakiba, Calli Wibbenmeyer and Clare Reinhart combined for six hits and three RBIs.

• Anna Stephen (2-1) allowed three hits over the final 3.2 innings.  

Game 2: RU 10, Southwest Baptist 1 (5 inn.)

The Hawks scored four runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.   

• Riley McGovern collected a season-high two runs and three RBIs.

• Maya Gallagher and Morgan Schmidt combined for three hits and five runs scored.
• Shakiba and Cheyenne Minnick each drove in two runs.
• Junior right-hander Avery Huffman allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts over 5.0 innings.
