The Rockhurst softball team split a doubleheader with Augustana (S.D.) on Sunday. The Hawks won 12-11 win in extra innings in the first game and suffered a 6-4 loss in the second game at Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas City, Kansas.
Game One: RU 12, Augustana 11 (8 inn.)
The Hawks scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out RBI single to right-center by
Maya Gallagher. Augustana rallied from an 8-1 deficit to tie the score with a two-out home run in the seventh.
Avery Huffman led the Hawks with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Gwen Bostick and Gallagher combined for five hits, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Anna Stephen (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits over 3.2 innings.
Game Two: Augustana 6, RU 4
The Vikings scored three runs in the seventh to rally from a 4-3 deficit after RU's
Jayla Pierce hit a pinch-hit three-run home run to right-center in the sixth.
Junior right-hander
BreAnna Droge allowed three runs on nine hits over 4.01 innings.
Cheyenne Minnick reached base three times with a triple and two walks.
