Women fall short against Northwest Missouri

The Rockhurst women's tennis team fell short by a 4-3 score to 28th-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Friday at the Overland Park Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kansas.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. Sofia Valdespino and Marina Magai won No. 1 doubles by a 6-4 score. Martyna Jankowska and Dani Lentisco won No. 2 doubles, 6-4.

Magai won in No. 2 singles in three sets over Tessa Kwakernaak. Magai won the last two sets, 6-2 and 6-4.

Jankowska captured her No. 3 singles match in two sets over Carolina Caetano Reis, 6-2 and 7-6 (11-9).

The Hawks (5-5) host Lubbock Christian on Monday at the Northland Racquet Club at 8 p.m.
