Softball splits on opening day in Texas

The Rockhurst softball team opened the 2023 season with a 2-1 win against Fort Hays State and a 10-9 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State in extra innings in the MSU Round-Up Friday in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Game One: RU 2, Fort Hays State 1

The Hawks scored both of their runs with two outs in the first inning on a two-run double down the left-field line by Lauren Good. Game Two: Southwestern Oklahoma State 10, RU 9 (10 innings)
The Bulldogs scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th with the aid of a throwing error. Rockhurst rallied from a 9-2 deficit to tie the score with four runs in the seventh.
