Hawks face demanding road tests in St. Louis

The Hawks are 3-5 on the road this season.

The Rockhurst women's basketball team travels to the other side of the state this week for a pair of demanding road tests in St. Louis.

Coach Larry Park's team faces Maryville on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) and Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (1 p.m.).

Rockhurst (9-11, 4-8 GLVC) is currently in 11th place in the GLVC. The Hawks rank sixth in scoring offense (68.6 pg) and sixth in scoring defense (66.8 pg) in the GLVC.

Junior guard Keegan Sullivan leads the team in scoring (16.4 pg, sixth in GLVC). Senior forward Molly Hummel ranks sixth in rebounding (7.3 pg) in the GLVC.

Maryville (11-9, 6-7 GLVC) is coming off an 84-78 loss to Quincy on Saturday. The Saints got the best of the Hawks earlier this season with an 84-76 victory. Maryville is led by senior guard Antoinette Mussorici, who is right behind Sullivan in scoring in the GLVC, averaging 15.8 points per game.

UMSL (8-11, 6-7 GLVC) plays Southwest Baptist Thursday night before hosting the Hawks on Saturday. Rockhurst posted a 59-48 win over UMSL earlier this season in Kansas City. The Tritons are led by sophomore guard Jalysa Stokes, who ranks third in scoring (17.1 pg) in the GLVC.
