Hawks fall to No. 21 Ferris State in NCAA regional semifinals

PRESS CONFERENCE

Four players combined for 47 kills to carry 21st-ranked Ferris State to a 3-1 victory over Rockhurst in the semifinals of the NCAA Midwest Regional Friday night on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.

After Rockhurst won the first set, 26-24, Ferris State outscored the Hawks by 20 points over the next three sets.

"I couldn't ask anything more for our effort. We were just a little bit off with our execution," said Rockhurst coach Trent Jones. "We won the first set with heart. After that, we just couldn't stop them enough."

Sarah Pyle led the Hawks with 15 kills and 15 digs. Madison McClain tallied 12 kills. Sydney Raszler collected 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage.

Senior libero Maureen Reilly posted 40 digs. Sarah Montague had 35 assists and 10 digs. Molly Trachta tacked on 10 assists and seven digs. Gracey Janes added 10 digs.

Set One: Rockhurst 26, Ferris State 24
Pyle scored the last two points on a kill and a service ace. Reilly led the way with 11 digs.

Set Two: Ferris State 25, Rockhurst 22
Ferris ended the set on a 5-2 run to even the match. Razler led the Hawks with five kills.

Set Three: Ferris State 25, Rockhurst 18
The Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run to take a 23-17 lead. Reilly posted 13 digs.

Set Four: Ferris State 25, Rockhurst 15
Ferris closed the match on a 15-5 run. Pyle led the Hawks with six kills.
