Hawks collect record-breaking win over UIS

Macie Conway scored a career-high 31 points to power the Rockhurst women to a record-breaking 109-87 victory over Illinois Springfield Wednesday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.
 
The Hawks shattered the school's single-game scoring record against an NCAA Division II opponent by 11 points. The old record of 98 points occurred three years ago against Southwest Baptist.

Conway connected on seven-of-nine field goals and made all five of her 3-point field goal attempts. The sophomore guard also was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Ali Kamies posted 16 points, four assists and five steals. Keegan Sullivan tallied 11 points and seven rebounds. Rebeca Garcia scored eight of her 10 points in the first half. Kaitlyn Kennedy and Akili Felici each finished with nine points.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 52-38 halftime lead behind 20 points from Conway. The Hawks scored 57 points in the second half on 59.4 percent shooting as Kamies, Conway and Sullivan combined for 34 points.

The Hawks scored 52 points in the paint and 34 points off turnovers. Rockhurst shot 50.7 percent from the field (34-of-67) and 85.4 percent from the foul line (35-of-41).

Springfield (3-1, 1-1 GLVC) made 25-of-58 field goals (43.1 percent) and 31-of-43 free throws (72.1 percent).

Rockhurst (1-1. 1-0 GLVC) next plays at McKendree on Thursday, Nov. 30.
