Hawks face tough MIAA foes this week

The Rockhurst Hawks face two of the top teams in the MIAA this week. The Hawks host Missouri Western tonight (7 p.m.) and play at Washburn on Saturday (2 p.m.).
 
Rockhurst (1-1) posted an 81-64 victory over Davenport on Saturday in the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge. Nico Felici and Miles White combined for 26 points and five 3-point field goals in the victory.

Missouri Western (2-0) is led by JaRon Thames. The senior guard combined for 36 points in the Griffons' wins over Augustana (76-72) and 21st-ranked Northern State (75-72) last weekend.

The Griffons have won the last two meetings with Rockhurst and holds an 11-9 lead in the all-time series since 2000.

Washburn (1-1) meets Rockhurst for the first time in Topeka since 2018 when the Ichabods edged the Hawks, 76-72. Rockhurst has won five of the last seven meetings and trail in the all-time series, 32-31.

Sophomore forward Brady Christiansen led the Ichabods with 18 points in a 79-77 loss to Minnesota State Moorhead last Sunday at KC's Municipal Auditorium.
