Early goals carry Hawks to 2-0 win at Upper Iowa

Anna Lantz and Hanna Jones scored first-half goals to lead the Rockhurst women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Upper Iowa Sunday in Fayette, Iowa.

Lantz gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on a 14-yard shot into the upper right off a pass from Elle Kimball.

Jones scored on a header from four yards out off a corner kick by Cameron Murphy in the 34th minute.

Rockhurst outshot the Peacocks, 30-4. The Hawks had 16 shots in first half and 14 shots in the second half.

Lantz led the Hawks with nine shots and five shots on goal. Kimball posted four shots and two shots on goal. Olivia Van Belle collected three shots and one shot on goal. Murphy added three shots.

Junior goalkeeper Taylor James made one save while posting her seventh shutout of the season.

Rockhurst (5-4-3, 3-3-2 GLVC) return home to play Quincy on Friday.
