Hawks end regular season with 2-1 win

The Rockhurst men's soccer team ended the regular season with a 2-1 victory over William Jewell Friday night on Senior Night at Bourke Field. The win improves the Hawks to 7-7-2 overall and 5-6-2 in the GLVC.

Rockhurst will earn a berth in the GLVC Tournament with a tie or loss by either Drury or Quincy on Sunday. The GLVC Tournament bracket will be announced Sunday night.

Jeremiah Musa and Jacopo Belardo scored the Hawks' goals. Musa opened the scoring with 18 minutes left in the first half. Belardo gave Rockhurst a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute.

Musa headed in a shot from four yards out. Winder Pessoa and Belardo earned assists on Musa's second career goal.

Belardo scored on a rebound off the post from 10 yards out. Pessoa and Max Banestig assisted on Belardo's fifth goal of the season.

Rockhurst posted 12 of its 19 shots in the second half. Belardo led the Hawks with seven shots and one shot on goal. Pessoa tallied four shots and two assists. Nick Grewe and Cristoforo LiCavoli added two shots apiece.
