UIS posts 84-71 win over Hawks

Illinois Springfield scored 29 points in the second quarter on the way to posting an 84-71 win over Rockhurst Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House. 

Springfield took the 44-34 lead into halftime and never trailed in the second half. The Prairie Stars made 10-of-25 three-pointers while holding the Hawks to just one-of-17 threes.

Keegan Sullivan tallied 24 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Molly Hummel collected her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to totaling six assists. Rebeca Garcia collected eight points on three-of-six shooting and snared six rebounds.

Springfield (1-13, 1-5 GLVC) made 27-of-63 shots from the field (42.9 percent). Ariyah Douglas led the Prairie Stars with 21 points and four assists.
