Rockhurst shot 22-of-28 from the foul line in rolling to a 72-67 victory over Missouri S&T Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Hawks took a 26-16 lead after the first quarter but only scored three points in the second quarter as the Miners led 31-29 at halftime. Down by one heading into the fourth quarter, Rockhurst took a late lead off a steal and layup from freshman Ali Kamies, while her former high school teammate, Macie Conway, made a clutch jumper to seal the win with under a minute to go.
Molly Hummel led the Hawks with 17 points and six rebounds. Keegan Sullivan posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Kamies and Conway combined for 23 points. Rebeca Garcia added seven points, five rebounds and two blocks. Allison McFarren collected a team-high three steals.
Missouri S&T connected on 23-of-60 shots from the field (38.3 percent) and 17-of-19 free throws (89.5 percent). Laura Rodriguez led the Miners with 22 points.
