Freshmen lead Rockhurst to victory over UMSL

Freshmen Lizzo Rosenthal and Anna Lantz led Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over Missouri- St. Louis Friday night at Bourke Field.

Rosenthal got the offense started by connecting on a penalty kick in the 49th minute to give Rockhurst a 1-0 lead.

Minutes later, Lantz connected on a shot from 18 yards out into the bottom left of the net to extend the lead.

Rockhurst posted 15 shots with six being on goal. Lantz led the team with five shots and two shots on goal.

The Tritons rallied with a goal in the 61st minute, but the Hawks' defense held off UMSL in the final 29 minutes. RU keeper Taylor James posted two saves.

The victory kept the Hawks (6-1-2 overall) unbeaten in GLVC play this season at 5-0.

Rockhurst plays at Maryville (5-2-3, 3-0-3 GLVC) in a key GLVC matchup on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
