Rockhurst falls to Maryville in first GLVC loss

Rockhurst suffered its first conference loss, falling to Maryville 3-0 Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Missouri.

Both teams had a slow offensive start. The Hawks outshot Maryville 4-2 in the first half, but both teams remained scoreless.

Ashlyne Hunt got things started for Maryville in the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute. In the 61st minute, Hannah Kostelz scored a goal to put Maryville up 2-0 over the Hawks.

The Hawks were outshot 7-4 in the second half, with only one of the four being on goal. Maryville added one final goal in the 81st minute from Lexi Gentry.

Freshman Anna Lantz posted two of the Hawks' eight shots. RU goalkeeper Taylor James posted four saves on the day.

On Friday, the Hawks (6-2-2, 5-1 GLVC) play at home against Indianapolis (3-3-4, 2-1-3 GLVC).
