The Rockhurst women's soccer team remains undefeated in GLVC play after defeating Missouri S&T 2-1 in their home opener Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
Lizzo Rosenthal got things started offensively for the Hawks after scoring off a penalty kick in the eighth minute of the first half. Rockhurst totaled nine shots in the first half, while Missouri S&T had zero shots.
The Hawks continued to be aggressive in the second half, outshooting the Miners 19-5. Anna Lantz led the team with four shots, with three being on goal, while Gabby Hennessy, Lauren O'Connor, and Rosenthal followed with three shots apiece.
Lantz added to the lead in the second half with a goal from 12 yards out assisted by Lauren O'Connor and Mallory Mumby.
The Miners tried to rally back with a goal from Sydney Gratz in the 84th minute, but the Hawks' defense would not allow it.
Rockhurst (4-1-2, 3-0 GLVC) will face Drury in Springfield, Missouri Sunday at noon.
