Volleyball faces pair of tough road games this weekend

Maureen Reilly went over 1,000 career digs last weekend.

It's back on the road for the Rockhurst volleyball team this weekend. The Hawks play at Drury at 6 p.m. Friday and then face Missouri S&T in Rolla at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks (8-2, 1-0 GLVC) posted a 3-1 win over Southwest Baptist to open league play last Saturday. Junior libero Maureen Reilly went over 1,000 career digs in the win over SBU. Reilly is averaging a league-best 5.55 digs per set.

Junior outside hitter Kenzie Hines ranks ninth in kills (3.11 per set) in the GLVC. Junior setter Sarah Montague ranks sixth in service aces and ninth in assists in the GLVC.

Drury (7-7, 2-0 GLVC) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Central Missouri on Tuesday. The Panthers opened GLVC play with wins over Truman State and William Jewell. Sophomore outside hitter Salma Lewis leads Drury with 2.83 kills per set.

Rockhurst has won three of the last four matches with Drury. The Hawks own a 17-9 lead in the all-time series.

Missouri S&T (7-4, 1-1 GLVC) has dropped four of its five matches after starting the season with a 6-0 record. The Miners broke a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Truman State last Saturday. Junior right side hitter Madelyn Mason ranks eighth in kills (3.16 per set) in the conference.

The Hawks have split their last four meetings with S&T and hold a 20-6 lead in the all-time series.
