The Rockhurst women's soccer team added to the win column on Friday with a 4-2 victory over Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Missouri.
Gabby Hennessy, Anna Lantz and Olivia Schwarzen each scored goals to lead the Hawks in the first half. The first goal came just inside the five-minute mark by Schwarzen, followed by Lantz scoring in the ninth minute and Hennessy finding the nets in the 25th minute.
The Hawks were aggressive on the offensive end, outshooting the Bearcats 28-8. Hennessy totaled seven shots, with four being on goal, while freshman Anna Lantz attempted six shots. Â
The Bearcats tried to rally back in the second half after having back-to-back goals. Lantz ended the SBU threat with her second goal of the day in the 88th minute.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Kerperien posted two saves in her 90 minutes, with both coming in the first half.
"It was certainly nice to get off to a quick start in the game," said coach Greg Herdlick. "It was disappointing that we came out a bit sluggish to start the second half but thankfully got the victory and we are excited to play at home next week."
Rockhurst (3-1-2, 2-0 GLVC)) will face Missouri S&Y in their home opener on Friday.
