RU Athletics announces facility study with Mammoth

The athletic facility study will be conducted over the next six months.
Rockhurst University Athletics is excited to announce it will be working with Mammoth Sports Construction on an athletic facility study.

The study will be conducted over the next six months with the goal of evaluating the current state on all of its on-campus athletic facilities, identifying opportunities for improvement and how they can best serve student-athletes and the Rockhurst University community.

"The time has come to evaluate our athletic facilities," said RU Director of Athletics Kristy Bayer. "We aim to provide the best experience for our student-athletes and fans, and this includes seeking facilities that are competitive with our peers. We will also strategically evaluate program expansion and how to maximize our existing space."

The Mammoth study will explore substantial upgrades to existing facilities as well as the construction of new spaces to enhance the overall development of its entire program over the next 10 years. The study will include input from coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, supporters, and university and athletic administrators.

"Athletics is a large part of the Rockhurst campus experience, both from an enrollment and campus activity standpoint," Bayer said. "This study will allow us to see how our facilities can add to the Rockhurst University experience, while honoring our Jesuit mission and values."

Mammoth began by building fields and facilities for teams in the NFL, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, MIAA, NSIC, NAIA, GLVC, KCAC, Heart of America, and Gulf South conferences, along with thousands of high schools. Since then, it has expanded and acquired services including golf course construction, concrete products and supply, general construction, and architecture and engineering design. Additionally, in 2021 it acquired a full-service marketing and creative services firm.

Mammoth, a corporate partner with the Great Lakes Valley Conference, is based in Meriden, Kansas, and has offices in Sioux Falls, S.D. and Lenexa, Kan.
