Hawks drop pair to Cardinals

William Jewell took advantage of four Rockhurst errors to post a 6-2 victory over the Hawks in the second game of a conference doubleheader Friday at Loyola Park. The Cardinals won the first game, 10-0.

Game One: William Jewell 10, RU 0
Jewell scored two runs in the first and fourth innings, and added five runs in the sixth.

  • Anthony Hansen led the Cardinals with three hits and four RBIs.
  • Freshman Ethan Kulpinski (4-3) allowed five runs on six hits over 4.2 innings.

Game Two: William Jewell 6, RU 2
The Cardinals scored four runs in the sixth after Rockhurst tied the score in the fifth on an RBI single by Hoyt Bennett.

  • Freshman Adonis Forte led the Hawks with three hits.
  • Freshman Michael Laudando (5-4) struck out seven while allowing three earned runs on eight hits over 7.0 innings.
