Rockhurst and Newman combined for 34 runs and 40 hits in splitting a non-conference softball doubleheader Thursday at RU's Loyola Park.
Game One: RU 13, Newman 5
The Hawks ended the game with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by back-to-back home runs by Emily Clark and Calli Wibbenmeyer.
- Clark drove in five runs with a two-run single, two-run home run and sacrifice fly.
- Allison Shakiba and Gallagher combined for four hits and three RBIs.
Game 2: Newman 9, RU 7
The Jets scored three runs in the sixth to break a 6-all tie. Rockhurst rallied from a 6-1 deficit with a five-run fourth.
- Gwen Bostick led the 10-hit RU attack with two singles and a double.
- Freshman Jayla Pierce tied the game with a three-run home run in the fourth.
