Rockhurst dropped two games on Day Two of the Music City Invitational at Stone Creek Park Saturday in Smyrna, Tennessee. Ferris State edged the Hawks, 2-1, while Trevecca Nazarene rallied for a 9-6 win over the Hawks.
Game One: Ferris State 2, RU 1
Ferris State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning behind a solo home run and run-scoring single. The Hawks scored an unearned run in the sixth.
- Anna Newcomer struck out 10 while allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings.
- Allison Shakiba doubled in the third and singled in the fifth.
Game Two: Trevecca Nazarene 9, RU 6
Trevecca scored five runs on four hits in the sixth to overcome a 6-4 deficit. The Hawks struck for three runs in the first inning and added runs in the third, fifth and sixth to take a two-run lead.Â
- Freshman Jayla Pierce led RU's 13-hit attack with three hits and three RBIs. Shelby Winkelman tallied three hits and scored two runs.
- Freshman Bre Barchak held Trevecca to one run on three hits over 3.1 innings.
