The Rockhurst softball team opened the 2022 season with a pair of wins in the Music City Invitational at Cedar Stone Park Friday in Smyrna, Tennessee. The Hawks started off with a 6-4 win over Parkside and came back later in the day to post a 7-3 win over Tiffin.
Game One: RU 6, Parkside 4
Rockhurst scored five runs in the fourth inning to rally from a 4-1 deficit. The Hawks took advantage of three Parkside errors in the fourth. The tying and winning runs both scored on an error by the Rangers' shortstop. Parkside scored four runs on five hits in the top of the fourth.
Game Two: RU 7, Tiffin 3
Rockhurst rallied from a 3-0 deficit to score four runs in the fourth and two runs in the sixth. Clark, who had an RBI double in the third, singled home the go-ahead run in the fourth. Jaden Santoni added a two-run single in the sixth.
- Winkelman and Clark combined for four hits and three RBIs.
- Haley Gatica pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits.
