William Jewell rallied in the second half to edge Rockhurst, 69-66, Saturday at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Missouri. The Cardinals outscored the Hawks 21-12 in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals narrowed Rockhurst's lead to 5-2 in the KC Crown series, which resumes Jan. 16 at Rockhurst.
Rockhurst scored the first eight points of the game and jumped out to a 13-point lead, 33-20, lead with 4:18 left in the second quarter.
Jewell went on a 15-4 run in the third quarter to tie the score at 45-all. The Cardinals took their first lead in the second half on a 3-pointer at the 4:46 mark and went up by five with 1:19 left to play.
Keegan Sullivan missed a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Sullivan led the Hawks with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Reagan Dodd tallied 11 points and six rebounds.
Molly Hummel collected 10 points and eight rebounds.
Allison McFarren added nine points.
Rockhurst scored 34 points in the paint while shooting 41.8 percent from the field (23-of-55). The Hawks made 17-of-22 free throws (77.3 percent).
Jewell (3-11, 1-4 GLVC) made 20-of-54 field goals (37.9 percent) and hit 11 three-pointers. Ayden Shannon led the Cardinals with 19 points.
The Hawks (3-7, 0-4 GLVC) host Baker on Dec. 30.
