Women fall to Upper Iowa in home opener

Three players combined for 46 points to lead Upper Iowa to a 73-62 victory over Rockhurst Wednesday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. 
 
The Peacocks jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first seven minutes and led 21-12 after the first quarter. Rockhurst took a 37-35 lead into halftime and the game was tied at 50-all after three quarters. Upper Iowa opened the fourth quarter on an 11-1 run and never let the Hawks get closer than six.
 
Senior Molly Hummel led the Hawks with 18 points and nine rebounds. Keegan Sullivan added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 3-for-4 from 3-point range. All nine players that entered the game for Rockhurst contributed to the scoring column.  

The Hawks shot 33.3 percent from the field (22 of 66) and 56.7 percent from the foul line (10 of 15). Upper Iowa's bench outscored Rockhurst's' bench, 32-18. 
 
Upper Iowa connected on 27-of-64 field goals (42.2 percent) and were nine-of-17 behind the arch (52.9 percent). Senior guard Lydia Haack led the Peacocks with 17 points and six assists.

Rockhurst, 1-2, travels to Topeka for the Washburn Classic and will take on Pittsburg State at 4 p.m. Friday and Washburn on Saturday at 3 p.m.
