Hawks are GLVC regular season champions

The Rockhurst women wrapped up the GLVC regular season championship with a 3-0 victory over Quincy Sunday afternoon at Bourke Field.

The Hawks finished first in the GLVC standings with a 10-1-1 league record. Rockhurst, 11-2-3 overall, will host the No. 8 seed, Missouri- St. Louis, in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Bourke Field.

Head coach Greg Herdlick picked up his 250th career win at Rockhurst as the Hawks won their second GLVC regular season championship in women's soccer.
 
Anna Lantz, last week's Division ll Player of the Week, scored RU's first goal on a 12-yard shot from a recovered loose ball that hit the bottom right of the net in the 18th minute.
 
Sophomore Gabby Hennessy gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead when she knocked in a shot from 30 yards out in the 23rd minute. Greta Seal earned an assist on the goal.
 
Seal extended the lead with a goal off a converted cross from 18 yards out in the second half.
 
Rockhurst posted 21 shots and 11 shots on goal. Hennessy led the Hawks with five shots on goal. Olivia Schwarzen and Lantz both added three shots. RU keeper Taylor James posted one save while collecting her fifth shutout of the season.
