Late rally falls short at home in loss to UMSL

A rough shooting night was too much for Rockhurst to overcome in falling to Missouri-St. Louis, 61-57, Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks were held to 28.2 percent shooting from the field on 20-of-71 shooting. Rockhurst dominated the offensive glass and only turned over the ball eight times compared to UMSL's 16 turnovers.

Rockhurst played from behind for nearly the entire game, trailing 30-25 at halftime and 59-51 with 32 seconds left. Rockhurst hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final 21 seconds and missed a game-tying three with four seconds left.

Daly Sullivan led the Hawks with 16 points (on five-of-13 shooting) and five rebounds. Ella Wedergren tallied 11 points, three assists and three steals. Molly Hummel collected 10 points, five rebounds and two steals. Keegan Sullivan had a team-high 12 rebounds and six offensive rebounds.

The Tritons connected on 22-of-43 shots from the field (51.2 percent). Mallory Ronshausen led UMSL with 13 points.
