Hawks face road tests at UMSL, Maryville

The Hawks have four players who rank among GLVC leaders statistically.

The Rockhurst women's volleyball team, fresh off three wins at home, travels to St. Louis this weekend. The 21st-ranked Hawks (7-4, 2-0 GLVC) face Missouri-St. Louis on Friday at 7 p.m. and meet Maryville at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks have four players who rank among conference leaders statistically. Justice Wingate ranks second in blocks (1.23 per set). Averi Vomastic is third in kills per set (3.75). Maureen Reilly stands sixth in digs (4.05 per set). Morgan Conner is eighth in hitting percentage (.360).

UMSL, 7-3 overall, enters the match coming off conference-opening wins over Illinois Springfield and Quincy. The Tritons are paced by Charlotte Richards, who leads the GLVC with 4.89 kills per set.

Rockhurst holds an 11-4 lead in the series since 2011. UMSL posted two wins over the Hawks last spring, including a 3-0 win in the GLVC Tournament.

Maryville (4-4, 0-1 GLVC) is coming off a 3-0 loss at Southern Indiana on Sept. 16. Rachel Hurt leads the Saints with 2.70 kills per set.

The Hawks have a 12-0 record against the Saints since 2011. The Hawks last played at Maryville in 2018.
