Overtime goal powers Hawks to 2-1 win at Maryville

Freshman Gabby Hennessy scored a golden goal in overtime to give Rockhurst a 2-1 victory over Maryville Friday in St. Louis.

Hennessy's game-winning goal was a free shot from 22 yards out into the upper left with 2:57 left in the first overtime period.

The Hawks scored an own goal in the third minute when the Saints cleared an Elle Kimball cross into the Maryville goal. The Saints tied the score on a shot by Amanda Kaltwasser in the 31st minute.

Rockhurst outshot the Saints, 10-8. The Hawks had five shots in the first half and five shots after halftime.

Hennessy, Kimball and Sydney Baker led the Hawks with two shots apiece. Freshman Taylor James posted one save.

The Hawks (3-4, 2-1 GLVC) play at Missouri S&T on Sunday at 12 p.m.
