Hawks receive 12 GLVC postseason honors

Graden Soucy headlined a group of 12 players from Rockhurst to earn postseason honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference on the eve of the 2021 GLVC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which begins Friday in St. Charles, Missouri. The Hawks (8-4) face Indianapolis (9-2) in the second semifinal game at 6:30 p.m.

A total of 53 student-athletes were recognized as All-Conference honorees. Additionally, seven student-athletes were named GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award nominees, while Quincy was the team sportsmanship winner.

Soucy was named to the All-GLVC First Team. The graduate student from Nanaimo, British Columbia has started 11 games on defense during the 2021 season, and tallied 35 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. Soucy earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week laurels (Feb. 8).

Three Hawks were named to the All-GLVC Second Team: senior midfielder Sam Lindahl, sophomore defender Luke Goetz and sophomore face-off specialist Nick Mostrom. Lindahl has scored 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists. Goetz has 26 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. Mostrom has 50 ground balls and won 81-of-132 faceoffs (.614 percentage).

Eight Hawks earned honorable mention honors: senior midfielders John Myran and Blake Bellinger, senior face-off specialist Sal Valdivia, senior long-stick midfielder Judge Greenberger, senior short-stick midfielder Brady Noernberg, junior attacker Brooks Hanson, junior defender Matt Buckley and freshman attacker Ricky Bloom.

Senior midfielder Jake Bastien was Rockhurst's nominee for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
