Hawks face Indianapolis in GLVC Tournament

Rockhurst will square off against Indianapolis in the semifinals of the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.

Second-seeded Indianapolis (8-2) and third-seeded Rockhurst (8-4) split their pair of regular-season games, as the Greyhounds won 13-8 in Indianapolis before the Hawks returned the favor by a 9-5 score in Kansas City.

John Myran has tallied a team-high 29 points and is one of four Hawks with at least 20 points. Brooks Hanson has scored 20 goals for 20th-ranked Rockhurst, while Luke Goetz (26) and Graden Soucy (25) have combined for 51 caused turnovers. Sal Valdivia and Nick Mostrom have dominated on the faceoff, winning 61.2 percent of attempts.

Drew Billig leads 10th-ranked UIndy with 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists. Jack Belobrajdic scooped up 34 ground balls and Austin Barnett has recorded an 8.54 goals-against average.

Lindenwood (9-2) secured the No. 1 seed for the event after capping the regular season with a 14-6 win over Rockhurst on Saturday. The 11th-ranked Lions will face fourth-seeded Maryville (7-5) in the first semifinal game at 4 p.m. Friday.

UIndy has won each of the first two GLVC men's lacrosse titles, winning the inaugural event in 2018 and successfully defending the crown the following spring. The Greyhounds downed Young Harris College in 2018, before defeating Rockhurst, 15-14, in 2019. The 2020 Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
