Hawks explode for 11-7 win at Truman

Rockhurst exploded for 15 hits in posting an 11-7 victory over Truman State in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday in Kirksville, Missouri.

Maya Gallagher hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Lauren Marks smashed a three-run home run in the fifth to give the Hawks a 6-2 lead.

The Hawks scored three insurance runs in the seventh on a two-run single by Josie Lindemann and a run-scoring single by Marks.

Marks finished with two hits and four RBIs. Emily Clark, Lindemann and Gallagher each had two hits and two RBIs. Allison Shakiba, Clare Reinhart and Dominique Salinas added two hits apiece.

Lexie Storrer won her 19th game of the season with relief help from Olivia Prather.

Truman came back to win the second game, 13-5. The Bulldogs scored 10 runs in the first behind two grand slams.

Shelby Winkelman hit a two-run home run in the second. Marks had an RBI double in the first and Gallagher added a solo homer in the fourth.

Rockhurst (24-14, 17-11 GLVC) will play in the GLVC Tournament in East Peoria, Illinois on May 6-9.
