Top-ranked Indianapolis sweeps Hawks

Indianapolis, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, combined to score 13 runs in sweeping a conference softball doubleheader over Rockhurst Saturday in Indianapolis.

The Greyhounds hit three home runs in shutting out the Hawks, 5-0, in the first game.

Gwen Bostick accounted for three of the Hawks' four hits. Lexie Storrer (12-4) allowed four runs on two hits and struck out six in four innings.

Indy posted an 8-2 victory in the second game. The Greyhounds scored two runs in the third and fourth innings, and added four runs in the sixth.

Lauren Marks drove in two runs with a double in the sixth inning. Shelby Winkelman and Josie Lindemann each had two hits. Anna Newcomer (1-2) allowed four runs on three hits with in 3.1 innings.

Rockhurst (16-12, 9-9 GLVC) plays at Lewis on Sunday, April 18.
