Hawks face UMSL in GLVC Tournament

The Hawks enter the GLVC Tournament on a seven-match winning streak.
Rockhurst will face Missouri-St. Louis in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.

The seventh-seeded Hawks (12-6, 10-6 GLVC) enter the tournament on a seven-match winning streak. Rockhurst is the defending tournament champions and have qualified every year for the GLVC Tournament since becoming a league member in 2005.

Riding an eight-match win streak, second-seeded Missouri-St. Louis (15-2) defeated the Hawks 3-1 on Feb. 27 at UMSL.

Lewis (16-1) is the top seed in the tournament and will play No. 8 Truman State (10-9, 9-7 GLVC) at 9 p.m. Friday. Earlier in the season, Lewis swept the Bulldogs 3-0 on the road Feb. 28.

Third-seeded Southern Indiana (14-4) will face No. 6 Lindenwood (11-7) in the opening match on Friday at 10:30 a.m. This quarterfinal contest will be a rematch from Feb. 20 where the Screaming Eagles won in a sweep at home.

In the 5:30 p.m. quarterfinal match on Friday, 4-seed Quincy (15-6, 12-6 GLVC) will take on No. 5 seed Missouri S&T (12-6). The Hawks won in four sets over the Miners on March 13 in one of the neutral-site, pod tri-match contests.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of spectators will be admitted to the tournament at 200 per match with masking and social distancing required. Admission is $10 for adults, as well as $5 for students with ID, seniors 65 and up, and youth ages 6 and up. Children 5 and under are free.

All GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed live and free on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon fireTV, Apple TV, and Android TV.
