Late rally lifts Hawks to 3-2 win over USI Eagles

Emily Clark doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give Rockhurst a 3-2 victory over Southern Indiana in the first game of a softball doubleheader Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

Clare Reinhart led off the seventh with a pinch-hit double. She came around to score the tying run on a one-out double by Allison Shakiba. Clark brought home Shakiba with her two-out double to right-center.

Shelby Winkelman gave Rockhurst a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the first. Winkelman led the Hawks with two hits.

Lexie Storrer (12-3) held the Eagles to one earned run on five hits and struck out 10 in seven innings.

The Eagles came back in the second game to post a 3-1 victory over the Hawks.

Calli Wibbenmeyer drove in the Hawks' run with a double in the seventh.

Anna Newcomer allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts in four innings.

Rockhurst (16-10, 9-7 GLVC) play at Indianapolis on Saturday, April 17.
