Storrer strikes out nine in 2-1 win over McKendree

Rockhurst posted a 2-1 victory over McKendree behind two home runs and the pitching of Lexie Storrer in the first game of a softball doubleheader Friday at RU's Loyola Park.

Storrer (11-3) retired the last eight hitters after allowing a one-out double in the fifth inning. The senior right-hander struck out nine and held the Bearcats to four hits.

Calli Wibbenmeyer homered to right field in the second inning. Maya Gallagher cleared the fence in left-center in the fifth.

McKendree scored two runs on three hits in the ninth inning to win the second game, 4-2.

Emily Clark led the Hawks with two hits. Clare Reinhart singled home a run in the second.

Olivia Prather (3-5) allowed four runs on six hits with two strikeouts in eight innings.

Rockhurst (15-9, 8-6 GLVC) host Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
