Storrer collects two more wins on the mound

The Rockhurst softball team posted a 2-2 record over the weekend in the Pittsburg State Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Hawks split a pair of games with Pittsburg State and Northwest Missouri State.

Lexie Storrer won both of her starts to improve her record to 4-0. Storrer held Pittsburg State scoreless on one hit over 5.2 innings in a 7-4 victory on Saturday. She back on Sunday to defeat Northwest Missouri, 4-1, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings.

Lauren Marks drove in four runs in the win over Pittsburg State. She doubled home a run in the fifth and hit a three-run home run in the sixth. Emily Clark added two hits to lead the 10-hit attack, including an RBI double in the fifth.

Calli Wibbenmeyer keyed the offense in the win over Northwest Missouri with two hits and two RBIs. She hit a solo home run in the third and added a fielder's choice RBI in the seventh.

Jaden Santoni and Gwen Bostick collected run-scoring singles. Clark and Shelby Winkelman both had two hits.

Northwest Missouri rallied from a 4-2 deficit to edge the Hawks, 6-5, on Saturday. Bostick led RU's 12-hit attack with three hits. Marks hit a three-run home run in the second.

Pittsburg State posted a 3-1 win over the Hawks on Sunday. Olivia Prather (1-2) allowed three runs on nine hits over six innings.

Rockhurst (5-3) opens conference play on Friday at home against Southwest Baptist.
