Storrer leads Hawks to sweep over Emporia State

Lexie Storrer shut down Emporia State on one hit to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 victory over the Hornets in the second game of a softball doubleheader Wednesday at RU's Loyola Park.

Storrer (10-3) retired the last 19 hitters after allowing a two-out single in the first inning. The senior right-hander struck out the side in the seventh to finish with 10 strikeouts.

Maya Gallagher drove in two runs with an RBI single in the second and a solo home run to right field in the sixth.

Cassie Coltvet collected three hits, including an RBI single in the second. Allison Shakiba added two hits to the 10-hit attack.

The Hawks rolled to a 13-2 victory in the first game. The Hawks scored nine runs in the first inning and added four runs in the fourth.

Calli Wibbenmeyer led the Hawks with three hits and two RBIs. She singled home two runs in the first.

Shelby Winkelman posted two hits and two RBIs. Dominique Salinas drove in three runs, while Emily Clark and Lilly Spring each drove in two runs.

Anna Newcomer (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits with five strikeouts in four innings.

Rockhurst (14-8, 7-5 GLVC) returns to action on April 10 at home against McKendree.
