Hawks hold UMSL to two hits in 10-0 victory

Strong pitching and a powerful offense led Rockhurst to a 10-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the first game of a conference softball doubleheader Sunday in St. Louis.

Lexie Storrer and Anna Newcomer combined on a two-hit shutout. Storrer (9-3) held the Tritons to two hits while striking out 10 in five innings.

Josie Lindemann led the Hawks with two hits and four RBIs. She singled home a run in the third and connected on a three-run home run in the sixth.

Allison Shakiba and Lauren Marks added solo home runs in the third and fifth innings. Maya Gallagher posted three hits, including an RBI single in the sixth.

UMSL rebounded to win the second game, 6-1. The Tritons scored two runs in the second and added four runs in the fourth.

Emily Clark hit a solo home run in the first for the Hawks. Lindemann had two of RU's four hits.

Olivia Prather (3-4) allowed two earned runs on four hits in 3.2 innings.

Rockhurst (12-8, 7-5 GLVC) hosts Emporia State on Wednesday.
