Walk-off homer powers Hawks to 4-3 win

Emily Clark led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a walk-off home run to give Rockhurst a 4-3 victory over Maryville in the second game on a conference softball doubleheader Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

Clark's homer to left-center capped a four-for-six game for the senior utility player. She leads the Hawks with a .453 batting average.

Rockhurst rallied three times to tie the score. In the 10th inning, Cassie Coltvet tied the score at 3-3 with a sacrifice fly. Coltvet earlier tied the game with an RBI double in the sixth.

Maya Gallagher collected three hits and Allison Shakiba added two hits to the 12-hit attack.

Lexie Storrer came into the game in the 10th inning and retired five straight hitters to win her eighth game of the season.

Maryville edged the Hawks, 3-2, in the first game. The Saints scored two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth.

Shakiba posted two of the Hawks' eight hits, including driving in two runs with a single in the sixth.

Storrer struck out 14 while giving up three runs on seven hits over seven innings.

Rockhurst (11-5, 6-2 GLVC) hosts Missouri Western on Wednesday.
