First-half goals lead McKendree over Hawks

The McKendree Bearcats scored four goals in the first half in posting a 4-0 victory over the Rockhurst Hawks in women's soccer Friday night at RU's Bourke Field.

McKendree's Anna Stiffler found the nets twice 65 seconds apart to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead. She scored on an eight-yard shot off a right cross in the 25th minute and chipped in a shot from six yards out in the 26th minute.

Two minutes later, Emma Knoebel scored on a 20-yard shot from the right corner of the goalie box. Allison Frederking wrapped up the scoring when she tipped in a shot from six yards out.

The Hawks finished with six shots, while McKendree collected 12 shots and seven shots on goal.

Carter Holton led the Hawks with two shots. Freshman Alyssa Kerperien posted three saves in the first half.

Rockhurst (3-2-2) hosts Southern Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
