Hawks post shutout wins over McKendree

The Rockhurst Hawks tossed a pair of shutout victories over McKendree, 4-0 and 1-0, Tuesday at RU's Loyola Park.

In the opening game, Jack Eisenbarger (2-1) blanked the Bearcats on two hits while striking out nine over seven innings.

Nathan Mark and Tyler Stamer collected RBI singles in the first inning. Mark added another run-scoring single in a two-run fifth for the Hawks.

Thomas Jones and Luke Lancaster combined for a two-hit shutout in the second game. Lancaster (1-0) held the Bearcats hitless over the final 3.2 innings. Jones allowed two hits over the first 3.1 innings.

The Hawks scored the winning run in the third inning when Garrett McNally was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded with two outs.

Nic Mertes went three-for-three at the plate. Tommy Kraus added a single and double to the seven-hit attack.

Rockhurst (6-2, 3-1 GLVC) open a four-game series at Maryville on Friday.
