Hawks suffer home loss to Lewis Flyers

Fourteen Flyers broke into the scoring column to lead Lewis to a 75-55 victory over Rockhurst Monday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Lewis jumped out to a 38-19 halftime lead and went into the fourth quarter with a 58-34 lead. The Hawks outscored the Flyers, 21-17, in the final 10 minutes.

Daly Sullivan led the Hawks with 11 points and five rebounds. The senior guard scored seven points in the second half, including posting six points in the third period.

Monika Faerber collected eight points and five steals. Lindsey Ingwerson tallied eight points and four rebounds. Ella Wedergren scored eight points.

Lani Thompson, Keegan Sullivan and Reagan Dodd combined for 18 rebounds and four assists.

The Hawks scored 34 points in the paint while shooting 32.8 percent from the field (19 of 58).

Lewis, 10-6, made 29-of-71 field goals (40.8 percent) and 11-of-16 free throws (68.8 percent). Kathryn Schmidt and Kaitlyn Williams each scored 16 points to lead the Flyers.

The loss dropped Rockhurst to ninth place in the GLVC Points Rating System with a 7-8 record. The Hawks play at Indianapolis on Thursday.
