Early runs carry Indianapolis past Hawks

Five Greyhounds scored in double figures to lead Indianapolis to an 88-72 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night in Indianapolis.

The Hawks fell behind 11-0 in the first five minutes and trailed 45-24 at halftime. Indianapolis took a 60-30 lead at the 4:19 mark in the third quarter.

Rockhurst closed the third quarter on a 19-12 run with Daly Sullivan connecting on three 3-pointers. The Hawks outscored the Greyhounds 23-16 in the fourth quarter with Sullivan scoring nine points.

Sullivan led the Hawks with 22 points and four rebounds. The senior guard connected on nine-of-16 field goals, including four-of-six 3-pointers.

Jessina Rada scored 14 points behind three 3-pointers. Ella Wedergren and Lindsey Ingwerson combined for 18 points.

Monika Faerber tallied seven points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Keegan Sullivan added six points, eight rebounds and three assists.

The Hawks scored 26 points in the paint while shooting 36.2 percent from the field (25 of 69).

Indianapolis, 9-8, made 28-of-55 field goals (50.9 percent) and 10-of-23 three-pointers (43.5 percent). Marissa Knobloch led the Greyhounds with 18 points.

The loss drops Rockhurst to 11th place in the GLVC Points Rating System with a 7-9 record. The Hawks play at Lewis on Saturday.
