Hawks fall in overtime to Southern Indiana

Southern Indiana overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to post a 96-86 overtime victory over Rockhurst Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Rockhurst jumped out to a pair of 13-point leads in the third quarter and the Hawks took an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter. Southern Indiana went on a 10-0 run to take a 66-63 lead with 6:09 left in the fourth quarter.

RU's Keegan Sullivan broke a 72-all tie with a three-pointer at the 2:03 mark. She later put the Hawks in front 78-77 with another three-pointer with 29 seconds left. The Eagles tied the score with two free throws with five seconds left.

Southern Indiana scored 11 of the first 13 points in overtime to take a 90-81 lead. The Eagles made five-of-seven shots in the extra period.

Senior guard Emma DeHart scored 28 of her game-high 39 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the 23rd-ranked Eagles.

Keegan Sullivan led the Hawks with a season-high 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting. The freshman guard made six-of-12 three-pointers and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Lani Thompson collected 18 points and seven rebounds. Monika Faerber tallied 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Daly Sullivan posted 10 points, five assists and two steals.

The Hawks shot 36.4 percent from the field (32 of 88) and 33.3 percent on three-pointers (14 of 42). Southern Indiana, 11-4, connected on 33-of-64 field goals (51.6 percent) and 19-of-22 free throws (86.4 percent).

The loss dropped Rockhurst to eighth place in the GLVC Points Rating System with a 7-7 record. The Hawks will host Lewis on Monday afternoon.
