Rockhurst captures two wins in Topeka

The Rockhurst Hawks wrapped up play with two victories on Saturday in the Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas. The Hawks edged Wayne State College, 2-1, and defeated Minnesota Crookston, 10-2.

Lexie Storrer won her second game in two days, holding Wayne State to six hits and one run over seven innings. The senior right-hander struck out 10 and walked one.

The Hawks scored both of their runs in the fourth inning on RBI doubles from Shelby Winkelman and Cassie Coltvet. Calli Wibbenmeyer opened the inning with a double.

Winkelman and Allison Shakiba both collected two hits to lead the seven-hit attack.

The Hawks exploded for 16 hits in the win over Crookston. The Hawks scored two runs in the second, six runs in the third, and added single runs in the fourth and sixth.

Maya Gallagher collected three hits with a run-scoring double in the second and a two-run double in the third. Lauren Marks and Winkelman both posted three hits and two RBIs.

Shakiba, Jaden Santoni and Josie Lindemann each went two-for-four at the plate. Shakiba and Santoni had RBI singles.

Olivia Prather (1-1) allowed four hits and no runs with two strikeouts over two innings.

Storrer and Emily Clark were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Rockhurst (3-1) is back in action on Saturday in the Pittsburg State (Kan.) Classic.
