Hawks hold off Truman State for five-set win

Four players combined for 52 kills to lead fifth-ranked Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over Truman State (25-27, 25-20, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11) Friday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Kenzie Hines led the Hawks with 16 kills and eight digs. Freshman Logan Gronewold posted 12 kills with a .458 hitting percentage. Morgan Conner tallied 12 kills and six blocks. Justice Wingate collected 12 kills and three blocks.

Jadyn Makovicka had a team-high 23 digs. Gabbie Inman finished with 26 assists and five digs. Dani Prusha added 25 assists and 11 digs.

Audrey Arand and Averi Vomastic combined for 18 kills, 14 digs and five blocked shots.

Set One: Truman State 27, Rockhurst 25
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-6 lead and scored the last three points of the set. Justice Wingate led the Hawks with six kills and two blocks.

Set Two: Rockhurst 25, Truman State 20
The Hawks ended the set on a 10-4 run. Rockhurst posted a .270 hitting percentage.

Set Three: Rockhurst 25, Truman State 13
Rockhurst tallied 16 kills with a .577 hitting percentage. Morgan Conner collected four kills and three blocks.

Set Four: Truman State 25, Rockhurst 23
Truman totaled 17 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Dani Prusha and Jadyn Makovicka combined for 13 digs.

Set Five: Rockhurst 15, Truman State 11
The Hawks ended the deciding set on an 8-4 run. Kenzie Hines led Rockhurst with four kills.
