Women close out the month with two games in Florida

The Rockhurst women's basketball team will close out the month of December with a pair of games in the Mocs Christmas Classic in Lakeland, Florida. The Hawks will play Florida Southern College at 1 p.m. Friday and closes out the weekend against Eckerd College at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Rockhurst heads to the Sunshine State with a 4-2 record after posting a 73-55 victory over North Central (Minn.) College Monday night. Senior guard Daly Sullivan led the Hawks with 13 points and five assists. Sullivan leads the Hawks in scoring (17.0 pg) and 3-point field goal shooting (2.5 per game).

Florida Southern enters their own tournament with a 3-5 record. The Mocs are coming off a 75-43 loss to Lynn University last Saturday. Senior forward Whitney Jacob leads Southern in scoring (17.4 pg) and rebounding (6.1 pg).

Eckerd is off to a 6-0 start featuring one of the top defenses in the country. The 19th-ranked Tritons are only giving up 47.7 points per game. Junior center Maya Price is averaging 17.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
