Women host SBU Bearcats in GLVC opener

Reagan Dodd is one of the top rebounders in the GLVC.

The Rockhurst women open Great Lakes Valley Conference play this week. The Hawks host Southwest Baptist in their home opener Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and travel to third-ranked Drury on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff.

Daly Sullivan led the Hawks (2-1) to a 71-69 victory at Washburn on Saturday. The senior guard capped a career-high 33-point performance with a game-winning 3-pointer with four seconds left.

Sullivan ranks second in scoring (20.7 pg), first in 3-point field goals made (3.3 pg) and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (43.5) in the GLVC.

Sophomore guard Keegan Sullivan and junior forward Molly Hummel have combined to average 29.3 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. Junior center Reagan Dodd is tied for fifth in rebounding (8.0 pg) in the GLVC.

Southwest Baptist (3-3, 1-0 GLVC) is coming off a 65-55 victory over William Jewell Monday night. Senior guard Kyleigh Vaught is averaging a team-high 11.8 points per game.

The Bearcats have won four of the last six meetings with Rockhurst. SBU won the most recent encounter, 77-67, in Kansas City last January. SBU leads the all-time series, 14-8.

Drury (9-1, 1-0 GLVC) opened conference play with a 90-74 victory at Missouri S&T Monday night. Senior guard Paige Robinson leads the GLVC with a 21.1 scoring average.

The Panthers and Hawks split their two meetings last year. Rockhurst posted a 75-69 victory at Drury, while the Hawks fell at home to Drury, 76-64.
